Cost of petroleum products surge in Nepal for second time this month

On September 30, 2023, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) announced its second price hike in petroleum products this month. 

The new rates include a Nrs. 2 per litre increase in the prices of petrol and a substantial Nrs. 6 per litre increase in diesel costs. Additionally, the price of gas cylinders surged by Nrs. 215 per cylinder. 

The successive hikes are raising concerns among the public about affordability, as these essential commodities become increasingly expensive. Calls are growing for the government to explore alternative solutions to alleviate the burden on consumers and ensure access to vital daily necessities.
