During the four-day ceasefire period, Hamas commenced the release of hostages, demonstrating a commitment to the peace initiative. Notably, 24 hostages of various nationalities were freed, including 13 Israelis and 12 Thai nationals. In a reciprocal gesture, Israel released 39 prisoners to Gaza.

Qatar played a pivotal role in facilitating this humanitarian respite, aiming to ease tensions and provide a brief window for diplomacy. Despite the temporary calm, there are concerns as Israel has signaled intentions for further attacks on Gaza after the ceasefire concludes.

The ceasefire marks a brief reprieve for civilians caught in the crossfire, allowing families to reunite after weeks of separation. While both sides acknowledge the ceasefire as a temporary measure, the future remains uncertain, with Israel and the USA emphasizing that this is only a pause in the ongoing conflict.

As the world watches, the hope for a lasting resolution hangs in the balance, with the ceasefire offering a brief respite for those affected by the prolonged hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
