Building on this initiative, the government is reportedly set to extend the ban to include popular apps such as Snapchat, Likee, Telegram, Tinder, and Bigo Live. The decision is expected to be formalized after a forthcoming cabinet meeting, during which recommendations from the Nepal Telecommunication sector will be considered.

The primary motivation behind this escalating wave of app bans is rooted in perceived threats to the security of government plans and policies. The continuous menace to military firm security, coupled with observed changes in the behavior of citizens and the potential impact on students' academic performance, has intensified the government's resolve to take action.

TikTok, Snapchat, Tinder, Telegram, and Bigo Live are singled out as perceived threats to national security. The government's stance underscores the gravity of these concerns and the need for decisive measures to safeguard the interests of the nation. As the authorities prepare for an imminent cabinet meeting, where the ban is anticipated to be expanded, the move reflects a broader strategy to mitigate risks associated with these apps.

The decision signals a proactive approach by the Nepal government to address emerging challenges posed by certain applications, emphasizing a commitment to preserving the country's security and societal well-being. As the nation awaits the outcome of the impending cabinet meeting, the debate surrounding the balance between digital freedoms and national interests continues to evolve.
